In the last decade, the overuse of antibiotics for almost every small
medical issue has started to weaken their power and their
functionality. This is caused by the development of bacterial resistance
to the antibiotics. With time, the resistance grows stronger and the
number of usable antibiotics starts to decrease.
In the last 25 years there hasn’t been a discovery of a new
antibiotic, so If we want antibiotics to continue being efficient, then
we must deal with them rationally and carefully. Antibiotic resistance
is a problem that affects us all – The creators of the policy,
developers, doctors, and consumers.
The awareness of the effect of the inadequate and irrational usage of
antibiotics in a global scale is very high. But, in some countries where
the use of antibiotics is not regulated and they are sold without a
prescription the awareness is still low.
From here comes the need to raise awareness about this problem
especially in the youth population to keep the antibiotic effectiveness
from decreasing.
